Webalo, Inc., a software start-up located in West Los Angeles, is seeking a few highly qualified software engineers to join a world-class team in the ongoing development of Webalo's leading technology for delivering applications to mobile devices. Webalo transforms the economics of mobile computing by providing an end-to-end cloud-based solution that enables non-technical users to select individual features and functions from their desktop applications -- even custom enterprise applications -- and immediately deliver them to mobile devices.

Candidates should be prepared to work both individually and as part of a larger team. Candidates should generally be prepared to work at Webalo's offices in West Los Angeles. The position involves both architecture and hands-on coding of both client and server software in Java, XML, and other assorted languages (C#, C, C++, Objective C, Python, ECMAScript/ActionScript, etc.).

Requirements:
- BS in CS, equivalent, or better
- Mastery of fundamental software engineering skills
(you know the difference between quicksort and bubblesort, what a directed acyclic graph is, how to avoid deadlocked threads, etc.) - Outstanding reasoning and problem solving skills
(you know what a mathematical proof is and you understand the concept of "divide and conquer" as applied to problem solving) - Java, XML, and object oriented design expertise
- Experience with fundamental networking standards (e.g. HTTP, XML, TCP/IP)
- Attention to detail (see how to apply, above)
- Solid written communication skills
- Authorization to work in the U.S. (i.e., citizen, permanent resident, NAFTA TN, F-1 OPT)
The following qualities will be considered a plus (but are not required):
- Advanced degree
- "Larval stage" hacking experience followed by formal CS education
- Significant experience with XML Web services technology (SOAP, WSDL, XSD, etc.)
- Experience with J2EE and open source technologies (Ant, JBoss, Axis, etc.)
- Demonstrated versatility, multi-platform experience (server & client, UNIX, Win32, mobile device platforms, Amazon AWS, Haskell or other functional languages)
