Webalo, Inc., a small start-up located in West Los Angeles just east of Santa Monica, is seeking software engineers to participate in the ongoing development of the Webalo Service – a new hosted application that transforms enterprise systems to deliver perfectly formatted data to mobile devices. It provides an advanced Web-based environment for easily "slicing and dicing" existing applications -- XML Web services, pieces of Web applications, and database content -- to create highly personalized, task-oriented applications that are automatically formatted and optimized for mobile devices. The service is powered by Webalo's User Proxy technology, which embodies a new approach to interaction between users and XML Web services -- an approach that enables dramatically more rapid deployment of ultra-flexible mobile/wireless software solutions. Candidates should be prepared to work both individually and as part of a larger team. Candidates should generally be prepared to work at Webalo's offices in West LA, although some accommodation may be possible under special circumstances. The position involves both architecture and hands-on coding of both client and server software in Java, XML, and some C, C++, and C#.

Requirements:

• ·BS in CS, equivalent, or better
• Excellent overall software development skills
• Java, XML, and object oriented design expertise
• Experience with Net standards (e.g. HTTP, XML, DOM, TCP/IP)
• Attention to detail (see how to apply, above)
• Solid written communication skills
• Authorization to work in the U.S. (i.e., citizen, permanent resident, or NAFTA TN)

The following qualities will be considered a plus (but are not required):

• ·Advanced degree
• Four or more years of software development experience
• Significant experience with SOA technology (SOAP, WSDL, BPEL, etc.)
• Experience with J2EE application servers (IBM Websphere, BEA WebLogic, JBoss, etc.) and open source technologies (Ant, Xerces, Axis, etc.)
• Demonstrated versatility, multi-platform experience (server & client, UNIX, Win32, mobile device platforms)
